A wonderfully hidden, out of the way, fairly easy 7 mile wander along the Eastern shore of Loch Lomond, surrounded by ancient oak woodland with clear views over Loch Lomond.
Take the lower path and you’ll pass Rob Roy’s Prison – a large crag with a natural cave where Roy reputedly held hostages.
I did it with my 80 year old dad – he’s pretty fit, but it shows that it’s achievable for most! Decent footwear is a good idea. Take the dog and the kids.
With a round trip from Tarbet with Cruise Loch Lomond, take a picnic, enjoy the impressive Arklet Waterfall and take in the stunning views. You might even spot the wild goats. A complementary tea or glass of wine on the boat trip home tops the day off perfectly. A truly lovely day.
