Arts & Crafts

Argyll is a hot bed of Arts and Crafts designers and makers.  From potters to basket weavers, artists to photographers, there is some true talent in the area.

On the doorstep of Mansefield House is Mansefield Studios Contemporary Craft Gallery.  Home to the Tweed Workshop, the gallery showcases the work of independent Scottish designers and makers: Harris Tweed homeware, lambswool knitwear, jewellery, prints, ceramics and gifts.

The Art Map Argyll trail takes you to 34 different artists who work throughout Argyll, from Arrochar to Port Appin, Tayvallich to Campbeltown. There is an annual Open Studios event in late August.

Cowal Open Studios is an annual open studios event (every September) where many professional artists – painters, potters, weavers, sculptors, furniture makers, jewellers and photographers, who work on the Cowal peninsula in the midst of the beautiful Argyll countryside, open their doors to the public.  Many of the artists are happy to be contacted throughout the year, or have studios that are open to the public.

An art and literature trail in the Trossachs is also worth a visit if you are inspired by Highland folklore.  For more information, click here.
